What is Sports Marketing?
Sports Marketing encompasses two major areas. Firstly, Sports Marketing is the promotion and effective awareness of sports, sporting events, sports products and services, sports clubs, sports teams, and innovative sports ideas. Secondly, Sports Marketing is the use of sports as a promotional or brand building medium for corporations.
At times, sports seems to be the only communication medium that enables people of different races, cultures, religions to interact positively, therefore, sports is often referred to as the universal language. Whether you are participating as a fan, a volunteer, a worker or a player, sports has a powerful presence in our lives. This is why corporations and people spend their money on attending and associating themselves with sporting events and elite athletes.
